Women in AI Ethics (WAIE) hosts monthly virtual chats with diverse experts in ethical AI. The organization aims to highlight the work of women and non-binary individuals in the AI space, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion. WAIE was founded in 2018 and has since become a platform for sharing research and resources related to AI ethics. Marv Hickok, the guest of the current event, is a pioneer in the field and has been involved in AI ethics long before it gained mainstream attention. She founded AIethesis.org with the intention of sharing research and advocating for ethics in AI. The organization serves as a global repository of AI principles, governance frameworks, and toolkits. Hickok’s inspiration for founding AIethesis.org came from her experience in the corporate world, where she observed bias in AI impacting recruitment processes. She resigned from her corporate job and founded the organization to provide resources and support for those entering the field of AI ethics.
